Whippingham Church with its Royal connections to Queen Victoria, and her family has always been a pretty church, full of beautiful stained glass windows and gothic revival treats like its turrets and gargoyle waterspouts.
Other little treats are its lovely details in iron and wood, and old postal boxes ,still in use set into neighbouring stone walls, The botton row of red brick buildings opposite and just across the road from the church, were originally alms houses for the poor.
Sadly only pictures of the outside as our churches now have to be kept locked unless hosting a service.

I doubt it Deb, I did a a portfolio of Osborne House and grounds as comission work, but I found I always wanted to stray and paint something like the details sculptures, carriage horses, flowers, fountains.:) I do a building now and again as a test really, or I'm broke as a commission, and I really find excuses to try and work in those details that I like, to make it interesting for me, I guess :)
I have the same problem with human portraits,I've been told, I sort of downplay any imperfections, everyone is just that bit more beautiful, can't help myself, But then perhaps thats how I see them through my eyes in my world?...Lindax

What a lovely old building. Seems unusual to me in that the tower is much larger than often seen in comparison to the rest of the building. I love Churches, and I agree that it is sad that they have to be kept locked now. As Organist I have a set of keys to our Church and its wonderful being able to go in whenever I please- a gift that few have.
So pretty! But I have to say I don't care for snow much in London.
How totally beautiful. It looks so peacfull in the snow,,,I'd love to go inside and snoop..
