Sunday they were raising funds for The Earl Mountbatten Hospice situated on the Isle of Wight. The Hospice is the Island's centre of excellence in caring for people with life-shortening illnesses and their families and carers. They care for around 800 patients each year, absolutely free of charge. Patients are referred from their GP or the hospital. Macmillan nurses and the hospice home team help with care at the hospice and in the home environment, providing much needed support for patients and their families. The hospice needs over £7000 a day to function and carry on its work, £4000 of which each day has to be raised by volunteers and the public's charity contributions, volunteers in many areas are always needed and appreciated. see their website..

Dear Linda, I hadn't forgotten about you. :O) I have made the cutest tote bag for you and will be sending it your way. Can you email me your address again? It's been so long since that last giveaway that I lost it. I'm at homemaking@eastex.net.

PS. I quilted a quilt block I had pieced several years ago and appliqued that to the tote bag. It's gorgeous!

Linda, It sounds like these dogs rescue people..or is it the other way around? I've heard of groups who take dogs to nursing homes. That is absolutely wonderful! I've visited homes for years and know what it means to them.

What a wonderful story!

Love Newfies, and the rescue work is so cool that they do! Used to work for a winery that had a Landseer, and she was the sweetest dog:-) However, if the female owner of the winery was by herself, Sophie would block her from any strangers approaching. A dog that big makes a definite impression!
