Marsh Wren

This was a study of a Marsh Wren balanced on a water rush stem.
I was lucky enough to be able to use a Photography reference from one of the wonderful photographers, Dave Slaughter, who post to Wetcanvas, allowing artists to use their photographs for our artworks. Thank You so much.
Please click on to see more detail, although there is much finer in the original, individual feathers and their filaments were each painted with a size -00000 brush with watercolour Paint. Total creation time in excess of 50hrs.
File size was greatly reduced to publish, so some loss in details.
Linda.

She is perfect, what a beautiful painting!
Wrens are so cute! I have some that dig in my windowboxes and look up at me through the kitchen window, lol.

TY, Jen & Kathleen, you are both so lucky. I do get little wrens in the garden but they are very quick and shy, they pop out from the foliage and back again, far too fast for me to enjoy watching, or take a photo. Lindax

Beautiful! Thank you for sharing! A pair of Carolina Wrens have babies near our house every year. Last year they made their nest in our begonia hanging basket in our car port. It was fun watching the babies grow up.

How beautiful Linda! I keep telling myself I have to do some pieces where I can dedicate more than 10 hours to them. I get so impatient, and always want to move on to the next project. But this was SO worth your 50 plus hours!

TY Liz and Deb, I had to keep having breaks though, and you get to that stage 'this is taking forever,I will never finish',sighs. You have to just put down your brush and get tea & chocolate. :)
