Poppy

Poppy after fighting a number of illnesses over the last few months was helped to peacefully pass on to new adventures over the Rainbow bridge.
She was a very Special little girl. When not much more than a year old after I returned from hospital after a 10hour surgery operation for a brain tumor, she took upon herself to be my nursemaid. Every morning (although previously never entering the bedrooms), she bustled her way in and around to my side of the bed. Her nose would then ferret out my hand or face until I spoke to her, she would then lay down, and refuse to move till I managed to sit or get up. Poppy would then follow me religiously around the house this went on for the next year, till I was feeling a little better. Poppy's methods of communication were excellent, ranging from asking with her paw, waving and gripping!. Clearing her throat in a hmm hmm sound, licking her lips for a drink, the follow me lassie manoveour, and even going to collect a doggy tiolet bag herself and standing in front of me with it in her mouth so I got the subtle hint.
She spent her last hours in her favourite spot, the garden, on her bed, under the sunshade covered with a blanket, watching the world go by, comforted by both her human parents, till she finally relaxed peacefully away.
She has left deep pawprints in our hearts.

Thankyou for the wonderful caring comments and well wishes left on both blogs, emails, and group communications,. M and I really appreciate the sentiments and love that went into them all. Lindax

Blog Awards

Blog Awards are always a privilage and a humbling experience that someone would actually think of you in such a positive way that they sent you the award.
The first was sent by Sonia http://darkravensnest.blogspot.com/ who is an incredible person with a giving nature, great sense of humour who will be there to lift you up when the chips are down , Thank you.
The Renee award was created by Bella and Ces in honour of their friend Renee. In Bella's own words "this is a brand new award and I have the pleasure and honor of spreading the seed, watching it grow. I hope it finds it's way to those who are like Renee: the acorn, a small package becoming a tall and sturdy oak, giving more acorns, becoming tall and sturdy oaks, giving acorns..."
The second was sent by Sheila http://sheilatajima.blogspot.com/ another incredible person of spirit and heart, who continually looks for the best of humanity, while juggling a busy life and helping animals.
This award recognizes the following attributes: 1) The Blogger manifests exemplary attitude, respecting the nuances that pervades amongst different cultures and beliefs. 2) The Blog contents inspire; strives to encourage and offers solutions. 3) There is a clear purpose at the Blog; one that fosters a better understanding on Social, Political, Economic, the Arts, Culture, Sciences and Beliefs. 4) The Blog is refreshing and creative. 5) The Blogger promotes friendship and positive thinking.
I know, I am really not worthy of either award, but the two friends who sent it definately are. I have not complied with all the rules , but I know they will both forgive me, cos thats the way they are. so.. This is really to Honour Them Both. Please Check out their blog links they are incredible Friends.

Marsh Wren

This was a study of a Marsh Wren balanced on a water rush stem.
I was lucky enough to be able to use a Photography reference from one of the wonderful photographers, Dave Slaughter, who post to Wetcanvas, allowing artists to use their photographs for our artworks. Thank You so much.
Please click on to see more detail, although there is much finer in the original, individual feathers and their filaments were each painted with a size -00000 brush with watercolour Paint. Total creation time in excess of 50hrs.
File size was greatly reduced to publish, so some loss in details.
Linda.

A Big Shire Horse Lad

I hope to get some photographic pictures of some Heavy horses to work from, sometime this year, fingers crossed.
They are such beautiful gentle giants you cannot fail to fall for them. Another mixed media on the Pastel paper.

Welsh Pony Pastel/Mixed Media

I enjoy working on Pastel papers with a mixed media selection mix of Chalk Pastels, Watercolours and Derwent Coloursoft Pencils.

Bluebell Woods and Holidays

The May Day Bank Holiday weekend saw the usual holiday events here on the Island. Vintage car rallies and Vintage Motorbike shows, both of which I had intended to attend and take some photographs, neither of which happened.
Poppy has been very ill with a new set of problems, and has needed to be watched over very carefully, hopefully she has now turned a corner, and will start to improve. We will book the doggy chiropractor to have another look at her back and legs again, as prolonged bed rest has seemed to aggravated those older problems again, but we are optomistic.

Mark did a massive amount of gardening at the farm alotment patch, and in our own front garden, so I could plant some summer bulbs, that had been waiting to see some soil.

Photograph of a little Bluebell wood, before the bluebells dissappeared, they were very early this year as everything else growing, Especially weeds!
